Josette asked me to post this here
from blogalice.com
as the subject indicates, the purdue hunger strike is in its 16th day:
http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~ahanna/hs/. one of my stduents has been keeping me updated. president jischke and purdue's administration are continuing to ignore the students. evidently, the students are not even allowed in jischke's office to deliver letters of support for the strike, and there is now a police officer manning the office, evidently guarding jischke and his $373,050 salary.
their demands:
(1) Workers in these factories have the right to form a democratic union if they so desire, or already have such a representative body. (2) Workers in these factories have the right to bargain toward a living wage. (3) The Purdue Code of Conduct (which has already been approved) is honored and followed in these factories. here's the petition if you're interested in supporting the group: http://www.petitiononline.com/nosweat/petition.html
